The students of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Novi Sad visited the biogas plant of the PUC “Vodokanal” in Sombor on 27 November within the framework of the XDEGREE project, which is being co-financed under the INTERREG IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020.
The students had the opportunity to learn about the process of biogas production from wastewater and maize silage using anaerobic digestion, as well as to see a new biogas generator, from which biogas is used for heating the digesters and generating additional electricity. They visited the mobile laboratory where brand new recipes for biogas production from various gratis biomass sources are experimentally used.
After 29 months of implementation, the XDEGREE project is entering its final phase and is to end on 14 January 2020. The results of the project achieved at PUC “Vodokanal“ Sombor in accordance with the analytical study developed as part of the activities of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina are already examples of good practice to other companies and research institutes having the same or similar scope of activity and will allow the development and implementation of similar innovative projects in the future.
